‚Our Targ Węglowy’ workshops are getting started

On 23 January, the workshops were started. They are addressed to all the citizens of Gdańsk who feel that the area of Targ Węglowy is important to them. People will discuss the future of the Square and its potential usage in three groups: young people, adults, and seniors. 

We have already finished observations on the car and bike traffic at the Square. Students of sociology have marked the routs chosen by the users of Targ Węglowy, their destinations, activities, and age. The observations are being summarized and will be presented at the beginning of February.

The users of the Square most often only pass the place of park their cars there on their way to work and to the treater in the evenings. Others walk their dogs, visit Gdańsk, run, or meet their friends in pubs nearby.

On 14 January, an expert panel took place. We invited urban specialists, architects, the representatives of the local community, non-governmental organizations, entrepreneurs, and the institutions located near the Square. We have wondered, how we could use the space to make it fit for various activities. The observations and suggestions will be a starting point for the workshops.

– The reservation for 23 and 29 January is already closed but there are still free spots for workshops on 28 January at 5 p.m. at the Institute. In February, a survey will be available in electronic and paper form. It will deal with suggested solutions for Targ Węglowy. The survey will be collected for three weeks. During the first weeks of March, during a final expert panel, we will summarize the whole consultation process and give the survey results.
