CITYPROJECTIONS (MIASTOPROJEKCJE) — a series of film and discussion meetings

At the beginning of November, the City Culture Institute are launching a new film meeting series — ‚MIASTOPROJEKCJE’ focused mainly of different cities.

At the first meeting combined with discussions at the Institute, ‚Sagrada — the Mystery of Creation’ will be screened. We have invited special guests: dr Hubert Bilewicz, a teacher of the University of Gdańsk, and Artur Liebhart, the Director of Against Gravity who organizes a documentary movies festival ‚PLANETE+ DOC FILM FESTIVAL’ partnering our meeting series

‚Miastoprojekcje’ is a part of the actions by the Institute focused on starting discussions on changes in modern cities, usages of public spaces, and encouraging citizens to feel responsible for shaping those changes. The series was initiated by the screening of ‚The Human Scale’ at the end of ‚The Square Quarrel’ initiative when the IKM encourages people to express their opinions and take part in the activities at Targ Węglowy.

‚MIASTOPROJEKCJE’ is a series of film meetings preceded by short opening lecture and ended by a discussions with the viewers and the guests invited. Hubert Bilewicz, the host of the meeting describes the event: ‚A city as a motif and a city as a landscape of films. Pictures of cities, film apologies, and city epitaphs. City mythologies, everyday life of cities, and city dramas. Real cities and virtual cities; realized utopias and projects never brought to life. Cities through a camera and cities through the eyes of artists; cities as an excuse for and the subject of perception.’

 

During the next meeting of ‚Miastoprojekcje’ we will screen the following films: ‚The Two-Headed Dragon’, ‚Urbanized’, ‚Megacities’, ‚Detropia’, or ‚The Venice Syndrome’.
