„Human Scale” of Targ Węglowy

On 4 September, 7 p.m., at the lobby of the Wybrzeże Theater we invite everybody to a showing of ‚The Human Scale’ documentary and a discussion on the Coal Market (Targ Węglowy). We encourage all citizens and everybody who feels that the Coal Market (Targ Węglowy) is an important place to participate in the discussion on its potential usage.

‚The Human Scale’ by Andreas D. Dalsgaard tels a story about changes in public spaces around the world introduced by a world-famous architect — Jan Gehl.

The film will end the initiative ‚The Square Quarrel’ that have started public consultations concerning potential usage of the place. The temporary movable arrangement of the Square invites the citizens of Gdańsk and other users of the public space to express their opinions, take parts in various activities and workshops for designing the city area, or just to spend their leisure time there.

Igor Stokfiszewski from Krytyka Polityczna will chair the debate after the film screening. The representatives of the city authorities, cultural institutions, media, activists, non-governmental organizations will take part in the discussion. Aleksandra Szymańska, Director of the Institutes of City Culture sais: ‚We want this debate to be focused on visions and ideas related to the Coal Market (Targ Węglowy) and in the bigger picture — on the expectations of the citizens towards public open spaces in city centers.’
